The products of the CHT Group are becoming more and more complex and customer-specific, which is why the flexible and safe storage of a wide variety of hazardous substances is of great importance. At the same time, the implementation of the storage regulations for such substances is becoming more and more complex. The increasing supply uncertainty on the raw materials market makes matters worse. The logistics of the CHT Group must therefore be designed to be efficient and flexible, and for this the construction of an additional storage facility for hazardous substances at the site was urgently required.

In order to be able to fulfill these tasks, Schätzle relied on a modular concept. In doing so, he did not opt for the usual approach in the industry – the construction of another large warehouse with open shelves. “Too inflexible, official requirements and construction costs too high, project duration too long,” is his conclusion.

In the spring of 2020, Schätzle brought DENIOS, the experts for the safe storage of hazardous substances, on board. After a one-year technical and commercial planning phase, CHT and DENIOS started the joint project, which, in addition to the delivery of 30 storage modules, includes digital remote monitoring of the system data. The five key points of the project were formulated together with the industrial construction specialist Company4: security, flexibility, modularity, energy self-sufficiency, digitization.

The storage modules stand on a special concrete slab, designed as a liquid-tight tub. The entire construction with floor, storage modules and roof meets the requirements of all regulations, including those for the construction of systems in earthquake zone 3, the highest category in Europe.
